The Spark: From Passion to Purpose
In 2016, founder Stephen Gavula III set foot in Jalisco with nothing more than a longing for clarity, clarity in spirit and life. With each agave field visited and distillery toured, that longing deepened into purpose. He connected with Master Distiller Ingeniero Agustin Sánchez; together, they envisioned a new tequila: one that honors the past while opening possibility.
Over the years, we have come together as a family from all walks of life to create spirits that are truly exceptional. We believe that if we get this right, our customers will be with us until the very end.

The Hi/Lo™ Vision
At the heart of Costa lies our Hi/Lo™ Blend: agave drawn from both Jalisco’s Highlands and Lowlands. The Highlands deliver florals, lift, brightness; the Lowlands ground the spirit with earth, pepper, and depth. Combined, they animate a balance that defies convention, this is Costa’s signature voice in every bottle.

Today, the torch passes to Citlali Ovalle, Costa’s first female Master Distiller, a visionary born in Jalisco who bridges tradition and innovation with fierce creativity. Under her stewardship, the Hi/Lo™ harmony evolves, and every batch carries forward the legacy she’s shaping. Her presence isn’t an add-on, it’s central to who Costa becomes.
